Roy Joseph Jackson Sr., age 87, took his final journey with the angels on November 20, 2021.

He was born on March 18, 1934 to his parents, Gordon and Agnes (nee. Rosera) Jackson in Green Bay, WI. Growing up in Titletown, he was a loyal Packer fan.

Throughout his life, Roy stood for the flag and knelt for the cross. A loyal and true patriot, Roy had a long and distinguished military career serving our country in the Navy, Marines, Air Force and the Department of Defense.

After serving in the US Navy for a year, Roy began a 20 year career with the United States Marine Corp. He received several letters of accommodation, was one of 400 Marines chosen to stand at the side of president JFK while he laid in state before burial.

He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and in recognition of his two tours of duty in Vietnam was a gunner for the Medivac Rescue and Combat Helicopter Crews was decorated.

A commitment to serve is a commitment to do whatever it takes. Roy and his family moved often spending time in Quantico, VA, Camp LeJuene, NC, Camp Pendelton, CA, and New Orleans, LA.

Upon retirement, Roy's love of the Northwoods called to him and he moved to Rhinelander, WI. For several years, he enjoyed the peace and tranquility that the abundance of nature offered.

As his health declined, in part due to exposure to Agent Orange during his military career, Roy moved to Southern Wisconsin to be near his grandchildren and then the Union Grove Veteran's Home where he spent his final years.

Roy is survived by his former wife, Rosemarie Kulakowski-Jackson. Together they raised three rambunctious boys and a beautiful daughter, all of which survive him. Roy Jr. (Theresa), Randy, Steven, and Carolyn. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Nancy (Arnie) Baugent and Thomas (Gayla) Jackson and brother-in-law, Charlie Rasmusson.

Full military services will be held at a later date with burial at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
