Mt. Pleasant - Russell L. Tolnai, age 78, passed away at his residence on October 27, 2021. Known by his trademark handlebar moustache, Russ was a lifelong car enthusiast who will be remembered by all who knew him as having a passion for vintage car restoration and all things Rambler. He was a member and past vice president of the AMO club, and a member of the Model A Ford Club of America. Throughout his life he could be found working in businesses that revolved around cars. In his spare time he could be found in his garage working on cars, at car shows, or at swap meets all over the country always looking for the next deal or the perfect part. His skills and knowledge will be greatly missed.

Even greater than his love for cars was his love of family. In 1965 he married Sharon (Ernst) Tolnai and had a daughter, Tammyra (Brandon) Evaska. Together they built a life that spanned 54 years and was the embodiment of what it means to work hard and play hard, and what it means to love family and friends. Friends and family alike will miss his willingness to help in any situation, quick wit, sarcastic humor, and words of wisdom - all of which were delivered at just the right time.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, parents Mike and Marguerite Tolnai, brother Wayne (Lillian) Tolnai, and nephew Michael Tolnai.

Lovingly referred to as "Pops", he will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, David (Katy) Myslinski, Michelle (Tim) Dotson, Brandon Evaska Jr., and Jacob (Emily) Evaska, great-grandchildren Parker, Ariella, Henry, and Clarkson, brothers-in-law Chuck (Sue) Ernst, Paul (Kie) Ernst, and John (Dawn) Ernst, nieces and nephews Loren (Kathi) Tolnai, Willis (Irene) Tolnai; Craig (Jessica) Ernst; Stacey (Brett) Christian; Casey Ernst;  Robert John (Megan) Ernst; Charlie (Katti) Ernst; and Michael Ernst, and great-nieces and nephews Dusty (Jamie) Thorpe, Katie (Dakota) Batterman, Beth and Sammi Tolnai, Jessica Nicikowski and daughter Tauriel; Nathan, Meadow, and Jacob Ernst; Nolan Price and Camden Christian; and Madysen and Rory Ernst.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Grace Church, 3626 Highway 31, Racine, WI 53405 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Memorial services will follow at 3:30 pm.

The family would like to thank all of the lifelong friends who have lovingly surrounded Russ and supported him over the years, especially so in the past couple of years since Sharon passed away.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to his hospice nurse, Sarika, and the entire Aurora At Home Hospice team that so lovingly and compassionately cared for him and the family throughout his journey home to Jesus.
