Union Grove – Shirley (nee. Stigen) Northup, age 80, passed away on February 27, 2016 at Oak Ridge Care Center. She was born on October 9, 1935 in Viroqua, WI, to parents Nordahl and Ella (nee. Pederson) Stigen. On May 18, 1956, Shirley married Gary Northup, who preceded her in death. She worked for several years as a teacher in a one room school house, teaching grades 1-8. In her free time, Shirley loved to read, crochet, and do needlework. She also had a great love of music. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Union Grove.

Shirley is survived by her children, Diane Seeger, Theresa (Erick) Janke, and Tim (Tracy) Northup; grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Janscha, Christine (Michael) Bryant, Paige (David) Janke, Olivia Janke, Brier, Justin, and Gary III Northup; great-grandchildren, Carly Janscha, Ethan Walters, Kaitlyn & Madelynn Bryant; siblings, Joyce (Howard) Schultz, Gwen Gress, Patricia DuPree, Argil (Dorothy) Stigen; sister and brother-in-laws, Sandra Stigen, Gloria (Ron) Hainz, and Ronnie (Kathleen) Northup; and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Northup, Jr.; siblings and in-laws, Archie (Marge), Wesley, and Robert Stigen, Robert Gress and Robert Dupree.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Union Grove on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 10:30 am until the funeral service at 12 noon.
