Stathi Gianou, age 65, of Yorkville, Wisconsin passed from death into eternal life, Friday,  April 19, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odiseas and Sofia (Vasiliadis) Gianou, and his brother, John Gianou. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Gianou; their four children, Elisha (Gina Damitz) Gianou, Jason (Kelsey Friese) Gianou, Sophia (Seth)Franklin, and Christian Gianou; their three grandsons, Logan, Alistair, and Lincoln; his brother, Leonidas Gianou, his sister, Kay (Reece) Ehrick, and multiple in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Stathi was born in Greece. He moved to Racine with his family at the age of 15. He played soccer for the Spartans in Racine as well as for Parkside University. He continued this love of soccer throughout his life, thrilling family and friends with his skills.

Stathi married the love of his life, Joan. They were married for 40 years. Stathi and Joan moved to Hillsboro, Missouri to attend the Christian Outreach School of Ministries. He also attended a local community college and got his degree in HVAC. After moving back to Racine, Stathi started his own business, Stathi's Heating and Cooling. He remodeled and serviced most of the Greek restaurants in the area as well as many others. Many times he would take his children along to assist him.

Stathi was very active in church, Kimissis Greek Orthodox Church in Racine. He served on the parish council and was council president for a few years. He was Greek Fest chairman for several years and was chairman of many of the food booths.  He also ensured that all the mechanics of the festival were running smoothly. For this he will be greatly missed.

Stathi had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease. He was passionate about God, his wife, and his children, and was proud of all of their accomplishments. Life was good and with the youngest son graduating from high school, plans of retirement and travel were being thought of. Unfortunately, 6 years ago, Stathi was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia. This disease attacks the language area (front) part of the brain. Throughout those difficult years of decline, Stathi was kept at home being cared for by his wife. He retained his memories and expressed his love with his eyes, saying much with his facial expressions. And while he will be missed here on this Earth, we have the Blessed hope to be reunited with him in heaven with Jesus and all the saints, Memory Eternal.

Visitation will be held 10am to 11am and funeral service starting at 11am on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Church,1335 S Green Bay Rd, Racine, WI 53406. Burial will follow at the Yorkville Cemetery.
