Thomas K. Collopy Jr. of Racine, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the age of 89. After several months of declining health, Tom died peacefully with his daughters, Terry Marcus and Karen Collopy by his side.

Tom was born in Chicago on November 25, 1933, to Thomas and Katherine Collopy. Tom had seven loving siblings. Tom graduated high school at Maryville Academy, in 1952. After graduation, he went on to complete trade school.  During this time, Tom was called to the Army at the age of 18 serving in the Korean War.

At the end of the war, he returned to Chicago to have a successful career as a journeyman plumber. In 1956, Tom married the love of his life, Cecilia Howard, and had four children. He was a dedicated husband and father.  His children will always remember his talks about the importance of family, faith, compassion, and forgiveness. Tom was dedicated to his Catholic faith and attended daily Mass.  Tom was even known for "hitchhiking" to Mass when he could no longer drive. Anyone close to Tom knew nothing could stop him from going to daily Mass to receive communion.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia Collopy (loving wife), Michael K Collopy (son), Mickey Collopy (brother), Jeanette Hogan (sister), Vera Hitz (sister), Pat Darby (sister), and Jean Blake (sister).  He is survived by his children Terry Marcus (Jim Metzger), Karen Calendo (James Sibenaller), and Tom Collopy; grandchildren Kelly (Nicole Nava), Deanna( Jonah Rodriguez) , and Megan Rooney (Matt Kniskern); Mike Calendo (Meg Calendo), Niccole Calendo, and great-granddaughter Simone Rooney, Zinnia Rooney, and Madden Calendo; Brother Donald & (Diane) Collopy and Morris (Maureen) Garcelon and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral for Tom is planned for Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 9:30 am. It will be held at All Saints Cemetery's small chapel located at 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
