Union Grove- Walter F. Glas, Jr., 90, passed away December 19, 2016 at Union Grove Veterans Home – Boland Hall. He was born July 14, 1926 to Walter, Sr. and Gladys (nee Doerflinger) Glas in Kenosha, WI. He attended Friedens Church and School and left high school to enlist in the Navy. He served during WWII in the Western Pacific aboard the USS American Legion. Walter married Caryl M. Schultz on August 18, 1949 and they were married 60 years when Caryl passed away in 2010. Walter was an active member of Colin F. Shultz American Legion Post #318 and served for 60 years with various local and State appointments within the American Legion. Caryl was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary. He retired from Ladish Corporation.


Walter is survived by his children, Caryl Jean Davis, Connie (Gerald) Kirchner, Gene (Jan) Glas, Edwin (Karin) Glas, Gary (Patricia) Glas, John Glas (Cathy Koehn), and Mark Glas; his grandchildren, Jennifer Davis (Alex Soens), Gretchen (Eric) Mickewicz, Andy Kirchner, Ryan (Sarah) Kirchner, Liesl (Joshua) Foster, Friedrich (Carrie) Glas, Anna (Bradley) Fisher, Warren (Brenna) Glas, Jillian (Ryan) Gottschalk, Eric (Pamela) Glas, Joe Glas, Amy (Peter) Foerster, Holly (Ryan) Graf, Adam Glas, and Derek Glas; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Caryl; his parents; and his sister, Marilyn Birkholz.

Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Bristol on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
